WILDERNESS Release “Vessel States” On CD/LP, Tour North America With PARTS & LABOR

As we welcome WILDERNESS back home from their first-ever trek over the UK and Europe where they played with LIARS, BLACK DICE and DEERHOOF, Jagjaguwar is proud to announce that “Vessel States”, Wilderness’ second full-length, is finally here.

For those of you who are just now getting to know who Wilderness are, they are an unconventional band from Baltimore, Maryland, whose apparent musical pedigree stems from the likes of the Fall, This Heat, Savage Republic, Public Image Limited and Joy Division — without sounding like any of them. Their music is every bit as spiritual as it is visceral, as nuanced as it is overt, and as communal and all-embracing as it is culturally alienating and nihilistic. The music-art of Wilderness attempts to glide above definitions or categorizations, especially those that are self-serving or manipulative.

The four comrades that comprise WILDERNESS will be setting sail once again in April and May. Their cross-hair is set on North America as they tour with PARTS & LABOR.

WILDERNESS To Release Self-Titled Debut on 2xLP In March, MP3 From Forthcoming VESSEL STATES Full-Length Now Available

WILDERNESS will release a beautiful 2xlp version of their underground hit and self-titled Jagjaguwar debut on March 7th, 2006. Continuing their charge up the mountain, WILDERNESS have given us a new MP3 entitled “Emergency” off of their forthcoming VESSEL STATES full-length due out in April 2006. The band has this to say about the new record: The psychic parameters have fallen off in an attempt at immediacy… a snow storm in the sure footed as a direct result of categorization… yearning to communicate has yielded psychic flares bounced from the bedframes, responding is silence… this is our collective strength to cover our heads with the music… play the fool, try to heal, be wary of the clever… vessel states…

WILDERNESS play shows, complete second album

WILDERNESS are remaining extremely active, with shows throughout the east coast and the midwest in the next few months. Highlights include shows with CERBERUS SHOAL and EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY. Also, Wilderness are just now putting finishing touches on the second full-length album, not-yet-titled, to come out on Jagjaguwar in late spring. Being completed at Silver Sonya, Will Goode of Wilderness has reported the process so far has been “magical”. Expect a full North American tour (as well as European tour) in proximity to its release date. For the listing of live Wilderness dates, go HERE.
