WATCH // Sharon Van Etten Covers Nick Cave

Sharon Van Etten rings in 2013 with the first Like A Version episode on Triple J! She chose to perform Nick Cave’s “People Ain’t No Good” for the Australian show. Watch above! It’s a pretty perfect song choice considering Sharon will soon join Nick Cave on tour! You can see all those dates HERE. She also played Tramp standout, “Give Out.” If you watch the videos and still are not satisfied, check out Sharon on the back of an kangaroo!!

In addition to touring with Cave, Sharon will join John Cale on January 16 at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House for Life Along the Borderline: A Tribute to Nico. Other artists include Greg Dulli, Kim Gordon, Yeasayer, The Magnetic Fields and more!

Watch: Bon Iver Covers Anais Mitchell’s “Coming Down”

Bon Iver will be heading back from their Australian tour pretty soon for a string of US dates and festival appearances. While they were down under though, Justin Vernon and the band sat down for a live studio session with the Australian radio network Triple J. The set included a lovely cover of Anais Mitchell’s “Coming Down,” a song off her latest album Young Man In America. If you’ll recall, Justin appeared on Mitchell’s 2010 album Hadestown. Watch and listen their cover of “Coming Down” above and download the audio HERE.

New Bon Iver Interview with Triple J!

Justin Vernon and Zan Rowe of Triple J

Back in March at SXSW we had a terrific secret: there was a new Bon Iver album coming.  Justin did one interview, and one interview only – Australia’s Triple J. Zan Rowe is a tremendous fan and had traveled all the way around the world, so we had to let her in on it.  She recorded a terrific interview to announce Bon Iver, Bon Iver to the listeners on her show – Mornings with Zan. Not surprisingly they spoke about the first song, “Perth,” and Justin’s connection to Australia. The rest of the (very illuminating) interview will likely go live in June.

BON IVER Covers Feist On Australian Radio

As Bon Iver wraps up an Australian tour this weekend, a recent appearance on Australia’s government-funded radio session, Triple J, included Justin Vernon’s take on Feist’s “The Park,” to which he brings his haunting – and comforting – falsetto. Stream the entire interview with Triple J HERE.

Stereogum is also offering a download of Bon Iver’s cover of “The Park” HERE.

Both Bon Iver and Feist recently appeared on the Dark Was The Night compilation, to which Bon Iver contributed the track “Brackett, WI.” The compilation benefits the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
