RICHARD YOUNGS has contributed a track to “Migrating Bird: The Songs Of Lal Waterson”, which was recently released on Honest Jon’s Records. He is in good company, the album also features such luminaries as Michael Hurley, Alasdair Roberts, and Vashti Bunyan, to name a few. Richard covers the song “The Welcome Sailor”.

Lal Waterson was an English folk singer who played an important role in the resurgence of interest in traditional British folk songs for more than four decades. She and her brother, sister and second cousin formed The Watersons in the early 60s. The group released a trio of groundbreaking folk albums, including “Frost and Fire”, which was named Best Folk Album of 1965 by Melody Maker. She continued to record music throughout her life, though she was forced by illness to retire from touring in 1981. She succumbed to cancer in 1998.
