ON TOUR // Oneida Announce Summer Tour, Stream New “RPT” Via BrooklynVegan

Brooklyn legend Oneida may be at a venue near you this summer! Starting July 17th at Glasslands in Brooklyn the band will hit ten cities along the East Coast and Midwest. Bringing along the usual merch the band also have limited edition cassettes called The Brah Tapes which include original live and studio material from the last five years and will only be available on this tour.

To preview the tapes, this morning Brooklyn Vegan premiered “RPT”, which you can listen to above.

Here’s what Bobby Matador had to say on the track,
“A total burner. Recorded live at the Ocropolis with an audience, at one of our public in-studio events that inspired the remote Ocropolis performance installations of 2009-2011. Showtime plays the bass. Titled “RPT” at its birth, this tune is usually known within the O as “Kaddenium” or “Kaddenmium,” after the uncatalogued element discovered by renegade scientist David Kadden. The scientific establishment, unable to reach consensus on its precise atomic weight, has at least agreed that this shit is extremely heavy.”

Dinosaur Jr. On Tour Now, ‘I Bet On Sky’ Still Shredding

Dinosaur Jr.’s record, I Bet On Sky, came out last week! It’s the third album since the reuniting of the original three. In his 7.9 review, Pitchfork’s Brandon Stosuy recently shared some words on the album. He starts at Dinosaur Jr.’s early beginning and moves us quickly through a brief history, showing us the evolution of the new work >>> the review.

“It’s a subtle shift, but this is neither a move away from their sound nor toward the raging rock of old (even with all those warm-and-fuzzy Mascis guitar solos). In the sprawling, happy anthem “I Know It Oh So Well”, Mascis asks, “Is there light ahead?” Judging from the music here, the answer is a resounding yes.” – Pitchfork

J Mascis recently gave an interview at CBC Music. Is Mascis jazzed about the direction of Dino these days? Head to CBC to find out.

“‘Gene Simmons once said that to me,’ Mascis reveals. ‘That was pretty exciting. I was on a Kiss compilation and he said, ‘Everyone’s really jazzed that Dinosaur Jr.’s gonna be on this compilation.’ So, I think of Gene Simmons when I hear that word.’”

Last, but certainly not least –> DINOSAUR JR. IS ON TOUR! They’re currently working a three day stint at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace and then off into the great wild they go! Check out all the tour dates HERE.
