FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE // Justin Vernon Announces Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival July 17-18, 2015 In Collaboration With The National’s Aaron Dessner, Presale Tickets On Sale Now

boniver.new.3

Next summer, the city of Eau Claire, Wisconsin will play host to the inaugural Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, curated by hometown hero Justin Vernon (Bon Iver, Volcano Choir) and The National’s Aaron Dessner. While the lineup won’t be announced until early 2015, you can purchase your tickets starting today at Noon CST from the venue website. Eaux Claires promises to be one of the most diverse and special festival lineups of the year, featuring performances and collaborations you won’t see at any other event in 2015.

A message from Justin-

After several years of touring and playing music festivals of all different types around the world, I wanted to put together an event that would honor what we love about this place—including an independent attitude and blaze orange caps—but also shine a light on less familiar and surprising elements that are already weaving themselves into our future.

Having this festival right in my backyard gives me and the guest artists a chance to share familiar work and new creations in a setting close to my heart and different than any other stage in the world. To create this event within view of the Chippewa River—the very river that defines this place—makes it all the more meaningful.

We’re fortunate, because the Chippewa Valley already has a history of great music festivals. Everyone—the city, the county, and the Country Jam folks—has been very supportive. They’re helping us take it beyond music into a celebration of film, art, and things still in the works … just walking around the place is going to be an experience. - Justin Vernon

We are so enormously excited and proud to welcome Sharon Van Etten to the Jagjaguwar roster.

With a voice known for its stark power and subtle refinement, Sharon Van Etten has a mastery for writing songs with direct honesty and feeling. Over the course of releasing two full-length albums celebrated by fans and critics, alike – Because I Was In Love (Language of Stone; 2009) and epic (Ba Da Bing; 2010), Sharon has affected a multitude of hearts and minds over the past couple of years.  Jagjaguwar will be releasing Sharon’s third full-length in early 2012.

Earlier this year Sharon collaborated with Justin Vernon and Megafaun for Sounds of the South and performed with them as a part of the National’s Music NOW festival in Cincinnati. Watch one of their performances below.

Two New Songs from Okkervil River’s Will Sheff

Okkervil River’s Will Sheff recently played a solo show at The Living Room in New York. During the set he broke out two new songs “Walked Out On A Line” and “Lay of the Last Survivor” which you can watch below. Whether these songs will appear on the next Okkervil River record only the future knows, but the strength of these songs is evident, even with only the bare bones accompaniment of Will’s acoustic guitar. Good signs of things to come! Those of you in the Seattle-area can catch Okkervil River live September 11 at Maymoor Park opening for The National.
