LISTEN // Sharon Van Etten’s “Our Love” Gets Remix Treatment From The Juan MacLean [DFA Records]

sharon-hires-09a

Sharon Van Etten continues her North American tour next month starting on the 3rd playing the Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. To celebrate her return to the stage after a brief break from an already extensive 2014 world tour, Sharon shared a special remix by The Juan MacLean [DFA Records] with THE FADER yesterday. The Juan MacLean is the super-duo of DFA‘s John MacLean and LCD Soundsystem‘s Nancy Whang. Listen to it above or here on Soundcloud.

On the remix Sharon writes,
“I feel very lucky that Juan Maclean made the time to do a remix of my song. Being a huge fan of Air, Daft Punk, James Murphy, I was looking for something that had a bit of edge, but I wasn’t expecting this. He started by giving it a lot of space and let the vocals remain dark and bleak while incorporating both my samples and his own sound. I feel honored that he wanted to collaborate.”

If you missed it a few weeks ago, watch Sharon perform “Break Me” and “Tarifa” on Jimmy Kimmel Live here on Youtube and “Every Time the Sun Comes Up” on Late Show with David Letterman here on YouTube.

Pick up her new album via SC Distribution, Amazon, iTunes, and your local record store.

WATCH // Bon Iver – “The Wolves (Act I and II)” Live

After playing four consecutive nights at Radio City Music Hall, Bon Iver ended their New York City run with an incredible concert at the Lower East Side’s Angel Orensanz Foundation, a gorgeous venue housed in a gothic revival synagogue. Frank Ocean opened the night and Justin and the gang later took the stage for the last performance in The Fader and vitaminwater uncapped 2012 series. Watch the encore of “The Wolves (Act I and II)” above! Read more about the show HERE.

Mike Noyce of GAYNGS by Leslie Plesser

GAYNGS is going on the road!

They had a most triumphant cd release show, The Last Prom on Earth, last Friday in which everyone had the best formal of their lives, PRINCE showed up, and the entire GAYNGS crew played Relayted from start to finish.  The Fader posted an excellent review of The Prom on their site that is making me kick myself for not hopping in my Taurus and hightailing it for Minneapolis.

Bon Iver’s Gossip Girl Debut

Good afternoon Upper East Siders, Jagjaguwar here, with a little update as to what our Queen Bee, Little J has on her nightstand.  That’s right, the Bon Iver issue of The Fader.  Nice going, Jenny (or some really hip set designer).  Her drug dealer boyfriend is sitting on Justin Vernon’s face!!!
