ALBUM ANNOUNCE // Moonface Releasing Julia with Blue Jeans On October 29th, Stream “Everyone is Noah, Everyone is the Ark”

For Moonface‘s latest iteration, Spencer Krug has stripped down his sound to just a piano and his voice, leaving the effects, overdubs, and electronic elements out. The new album, Julia with Blue Jeans On, is Krug’s self-described love record and displays an angle of Spencer’s music not heard before.

Today we premiere the first song stream from the new album, “Everyone is Noah, Everyone is the Ark”, a slow building warning of flood waters ahead. Click HERE to listen to the song or listen ABOVE.

WATCH: New Moonface Video, U.S. Tour Starts this Week

Directed by UK artist Marsha Balaeva, the new video for Moonface’s “Faraway Lightning” premiered today on MTV Hive. Balaeva created the video with her own hand-drawn images. “According to her, the story corresponds to the five stages of mourning — as the clip’s protagonist travels between worlds, he comes to grips with his loss. Krug is a master at blending myth and fantasy into everyday stories — in fact, the character’s feather suit and fall to earth recalls the Icarus story, a myth Krug used frequently with Sunset Rubdown.” It’s the second video to accompany his recently released album With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. Watch above!

Spencer Krug kicks off his U.S. tour this week. Joining him at every show is Siinai, with whom he collaborated on Heartbreaking Bravery. See the full list of dates HERE.

Moonface Announces First Full-Length Album – “Organ Music not Vibraphone like I’d Hoped” – New Tour Dates!

Last year Jagjaguwar released a twenty-minute marimba piece by Spencer Krug under the moniker “Moonface.” It was called the Dreamland EP: marimba and shit-drums, and it was sold as a 12″ and under a pay-what-you-want system via the interactive Moonface site in which fans could contribute and read dream submissions. Jagjaguwar will release Moonface’s first full record, Organ Music not Vibraphone like I’d Hoped, on August 2nd, 2011.

Click here to download the single from Organ Music, “Fast Peter.”

Moonface’s first tour is coming in July. Check out our page for all the dates. After the jump, read a message from Spencer Krug about the new record!

Spencer Krug is Awesome: An Essay by Joe S., Age 14

JAG146

Spencer Krug as Moonface

Today we received what is probably my favorite piece of fanmail for Spencer Krug of all time.  Included in the email was a 500-word essay that Joe S., age 14 of Minnesota, wrote in order to win a Spencer-themed 1″ button.  Joe’s opinions contained herein are not necessarily representative of Jagjaguwar or its employees. There is one thing we can both agree on, though, and that is that Spencer Krug is Awesome.

The unedited essay after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
