ALBUM & VIDEO RELEASE // Foxygen Shares New Video For “Coulda Been My Love” Off “…And Star Power”, Out Today Via Jagjaguwar

Foxygen celebrate today’s release of the oh so wild ride that is … And Star Power by sharing the new video for second single, “Coulda Been My Love.” Aptly described by Pitchfork, “Foxygen have become increasingly assured and accomplished songwriters, outfitting standouts like ‘Coulda Been My Love’ . . . not just with silken soft-focus melodies and heavenly harmonies, but ever-evolving arrangements that steer the songs into surprising, splendorous new directions without losing the throughline.” Catch the video for “Coulda Been My Love,” directed by Grant Singer above or on the band’s Vevo / YouTube, and catch the nine-piece Star Power band thunder-and-lightning their way across North America and Europe until the end of November. You can find a full list of dates below.

“Sam and Rado have rock ‘n roll in their blood. It’s not something they aspire for, it’s who they are. I wanted the video to capture that.” – Grant Singer (Director)

Praise for …And Star Power

“Everything about Foxygen’s new live show—which they revamped at the beginning of the summer—is as glamorous and aesthetically spectacular as they could have possibly made it. The same is true for their new album.” – Esquire

“Foxygen’s Sam France and Jonathan Rado know how to keep one foot on each side of the line separating barely contained genius from undisciplined indulgence.” – NPR Music’s “First Listen

“California psych-pop band Foxygen sound like a different era. Not a specific different era. Just some time period that is a blur of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, when people didn’t wear shoes and spent their days just spinning in circles with arms outstretched and eyes fixed directly at the sun.” – Vulture [Best New Songs of the Week]

A BAND YOU SHOULD KNOW // Foxygen Interview Up at NoiseVox

Foxygen’s Sam France and Rado recently met with John Norris for a sweet little interview at NYC’s Webster Hall. Tis always a treat to hear from these two, especially when they are wearing such marvelous shirts. Watch above or at Noisevox.

Foxygen are currently on tour with Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Wampire; a tour you’ll be incredibly sorry to miss. You can check out all the dates HERE! Get your tickets in advance for shows are quickly selling out!

Foxygen Talk Sandwiches at Boston’s In Your Ear Records

Hey folks – sit tight. We are about to learn a lot about the crazy duo driving the weird and whacky thing that is Foxygen. For starters, Rado does not like sandwiches and Sam France enjoys salami with cheddar and mayonnaise. You would think having such different tastes could cripple a friendship. One thing they can agree on >>> RECORDS. They luv ‘em. The Foxy boys recently stopped into Boston’s In Your Ear Records with Allston Pudding to point out some of their favorite little nuggets. Check out the video above.

Catch Foxygen live in concert. They are touring in support of their recently released We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic. First show will be at Paris’s Point Ephemere on February 2! TOUR DATES.

Love at First Sight/Song: Foxygen & CMJ

Foxygen are in the midst of taking CMJ 2012 by storm and no one is safe from their rock’n’roll ways. Tuesday night they donned their floral prints and gave Aquarium Drunkard’s No Jacket Required Showcase a shakedown that would make any grandmother proud (at least Sam France’s – she was there). It was their first ever New York City performance and certainly one to be remembered. VICE‘s Chad DePasquale was amongst the crowd and he writes, “Shimmering organ solos and visceral spaz attacks from the front man. Deep, evil, baritone laughs and glass-shattering screeches. It was all there, and the band easily stole the night, maybe even the entire week.” Read his glowing review HERE.

Foxy continue the fun tonight for the Hype Machine / Sonos showcase at Brooklyn Bowl. “However, those recordings, as strikingly out-there as they are, gave me no indication of the wholly unique and consummate performance these kids give on stage,” shares VICE. It’s no lie – Foxygen are meant to be experienced in person. They’ll also play Deli NYC’s Mostly Psych Showcase at Pianos on October 19 and FUZZNYC at 59 Canal St. the following night. GO SEE THEM!

How exactly did Foxygen come to name their band? Village Voice has all the answers.

FOXYGEN FOXYGEN FOXYGEN

“Lou Reed, Jim Morrison, and Mick Jagger would be proud of him if not entirely annoyed.”- Pitchfork

“I thought Foxygen was the best thing I saw last night, a confident melange of late ’60s / early ’70s psych pop and glam that was exemplified by the closing number that seemed to merge “Under My Thumb” and “Suspicious Minds” into a new baby.” – Brooklyn Vegan
