LIA ICES Performs at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Download Tenderflex Remix of “New Myth”

Lia Ices “New Myth (Remix by Tenderflex) by DOJAGSC

This morning was the presentation of the Spring 2011 Electric Feathers collection at The Box at Lincoln Center. The runway show included a live musical element - Lia Ices performed vocals for two remixes of songs from her latest album, Grown Unknown, as well as modeled from the collection.

The remixes for the songs “New Myth” and “Grown Unknown” were produced by Tenderflex, the new project of DJ Logic (Mos Def, Medeski Martin and Wood) and producer David Maurice (Jay Z, Kerli).

GAYNGS Remixes Gardens & Villa’s “Orange Blossom”

Secretly Canadian’s Gardens & Villa got the royal remix treatment by Ryan Olson’s GAYNGS, and the results are tremendous. Olson was recording at Jim Eno’s studio in Austin just as G&V were traispsing through town. The song “Orange Blossom” called to Mr. Gayngs, and after what I can only imagine was a liquor-soaked Austin, Texas bro-down, the remix-level friendship was forged. Altered Zones said that it turns off the lights and fills the room with the irresistible musk of desire! Holy shit, that is scandalous!

GAYNGS Remix Blonde Redhead’s “Here Sometimes”

Blonde Redhead must know that anything Gayngs touches turns to gold. The veteran rockers reached out to our favorite Minneapolis collective to remix/ throw in a few signature Gayngs gunshot sounds to a track from their 2010 LP Penny Sparkle. Hear the result in the player below, along with Blonde Redhead remixes from other artists including Pantha Du Prince, Salem and more.

Lia Ices Remixed By Pink Mountaintops

Pink Mountaintops recently remixed Lia Ices’ “Love Is Won” from Grown Unknown. Our friends at RCDRD LBL put it best:

What starts as just voice and piano slowly builds to a crescendo with layers of electronic noise, a subtle electric guitar playing country licks, and heartbeat-like drumming. It maintains the restrained, dramatic performances of Grown Unknown while still adding a bit of bombast.

Listen to it over at the Jagjaguwar Facebook page.

PINK MOUNTAINTOPS Song Featured On Beck’s DJ Mix

It turns out that Beck featured “Can You Do That Dance?” from PINK MOUNTAINTOPS’ self titled debut on his “Planned Obsolescence” DJ mix series.

Beck describes the mix, entitled “Autobahn Hologram,” in total Beck fashion: “[Autobahn Hologram is] a laminated miasma colliding on the bavarian trans expressway with american analog and voicemail emeritus… alabama nukes, rhineland jukes, pony tailed arch dukes, and the anatomically correct scapegoat…”
