Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Tramp Deluxe Edition’ Out Today, NYC Town Hall Performance This Thursday

Sharon Van Etten brought you her Jagjaguwar debut, Tramp, back in January. What ensued after the album’s release was a fantastic year, complete with nonstop touring, a handful of TV performances and more collaborations than you can count. Sharon closes 2012 out with the release of Tramp Deluxe Edition, which features the originals plus demo versions of each song. You’ll also receive new liner notes and artwork taken from Sharon’s journals, plus the previously unreleased track, “Tell Me.” You’ll find the deluxe edition at SC Distribution and iTunes.

Sharon returns to New York City on Thursday, November 15 for a US year-ending performance at Town Hall. Joining her are some very special guests; the list includes Thurston Moore, Aaron Dessner (The National), Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), Peter Silberman (The Antlers), Brad Cook (Megafaun) and John Maloney. RRRRRRELEASE DAY! Foxygen’s Debut Release Out in the Big World

Happy release day to Foxygen, whose debut Jagjaguwar release, Take the Kids Off Broadway, is available in-stores, online and from Sam and Rado at one of their many upcoming shows. Foxy is currently touring with La Sera and Moonface. See those dates at the bottom of the post.

For those who don’t know, Foxygen is Jagjaguwar’s newest and youngest signee. Don’t let their age deter you, they bring something pretty incredible to their music. Pitchfork’s Steven Hyden says the mini-album “transforms familiar ingredients into unpredictable, even unwieldy music” and “suggests that Foxygen have found a patch of untamed wilderness in the midst of otherwise well-trod territory. Offering neither clarity nor order, but very much the opposite, Foxygen see exciting possibilities in these disjointed times.” Read the rest of the Pitchfork review HERE.

Take the Kids Off Broadway is available on vinyl or as a digital download. You can purchase the record from SC Distribution. Stream “Waitin 4 U” and “Make It Known” below. Read the rest of this entry »

Supreme Dicks “Breathing and Not Breathing” OUT TODAY

Supreme Dicks entire catalog is now available from Jagjaguwar! There’s the 4 CD boxset, Breathing and Not Breathing, which includes both of the band’s studio albums, The Unexamined Life and The Emotional PlagueWorkingman’s Dick, a collection of early archival recordings; and the EP This Is Not A Dick, which has additional rare and unreleased tracks; as well as 2xLP editions of The Unexamined Life and The Emotional Plague. All for order right here.

The Stranger calls Breathing and Not Breathing “a glorious four-CD box set spanning one of Massachusetts’s gloomiest-ever bodies of work. Listen to ‘Jack-O-Lantern’ and try to deny it doesn’t rival Pavement in the birth of that sound.” Matt Fiander at Prefix explains what makes the Dicks so special: “They sound honest. In all this weirdness, there’s not a shred of pretension to it…If being underground is about not being exposed (as De La Soul put it so well) then Supreme Dicks were as underground as they could be. They didn’t rise to the surface to greet us, they summoned us to dig to them. And, in the end, we thanked them for the dirt under our nails…My recommendation: Get it all.

Peter Wolf Crier’s Garden of Arms out TODAY!

Peter Wolf Crier’s latest & greatest, Garden of Arms, is out today on Secretly Canadian. You can listen to a stream of the full album on MTV Hive right now!

The Onion AV Club says of the release, “Moen deepens and expands on Inter-Be’s rich palette, building out Pisano’s meditative and even somber songs into complex, layered creations spiced with surprising fills, melodic touches, and glitchier elements that keep the mood from ever settling in one place.” Minnesota Public Radio praises the music saying, “Using guitar pedals like paint brushes with a palette of colors, Pisano manages to make the duo fill every inch of the musical canvas with bright sounds and thick melodies, resulting in a lush feel.” Consequence of Sound lauds the band’s second release “evolv[ing] a more coherent signature sound” and gives Garden of Arms 4 out of 5 stars.

You can buy the album right now from SC Distribution or through iTunes Indie Music Spotlight.
