ALBUM RELEASE // S. Carey ‘Range of Light’ Out Now Worldwide, Records Solo Session for The Current, Expands North American + European Tour

It has been over 3 years since since we released S. Carey‘s All We Grow and today his new album Range of Light is out worldwide. The new album was recorded at friend and Bon Iver band mate Justin Vernon‘s April Base Studios in Wisconsin. On the collaborations from Vernon and Sean’s live band, Sean said “I just wanted to include them because these guys are my brothers…some of my best friends.”

Sean stopped by The Current and recorded a piano-only solo session and discussed his new album. Watch him perform “Fire-Scene”, “Alpenglow”, and also “In the Stream” from his last album All We Grow. Stream the audio from The Current and watch S. Carey‘s performance of “Alpenglow” above.

Range of Light is available now via iTunes, SC Distribution, Amazon, and your local record store.

Critics praise the new album:

“An indie-folk pastorale full of keen musical detail, never more striking than on ‘Crown The Pines’, with its post-minimalist rhythmic scaffolding”

- The New York Times

“It’s crisper and glistens with ambient atmosphere and mellow beats.”

- NME

“Range of Light continues to showcase the Wisconsin native’s singer-songwriter prowess.”

- AV Club
