Sharon Van Etten and Shearwater cover “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”

RECORD STORE DAY IS UPON US. As April nears, we all frantically search the web looking for the novelty releases that have all the potential to become our year favorites. No searching necessary – Sharon Van Etten has joined Shearwater for a collaborative split 7″, out April 20 via Sub Pop. The single features Shearon Van Ettenwater shredding something serious on their previously recorded cover of the Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty duet “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” which you can watch above.

The b-side features a new song, “A Wake for the Minotaur.” Only 3,000 of the these babies exist, so you better put it at the top of your list. Bon Iver’s Never-Ending Story

Bon Iver adds another huge honor to what seems to be a never-ending list. Nominated for not one, but two BRIT AWARDS, Bon Iver is up for International Male Solo Artist alongside Ryan Adams and Bruno Mars and International Breakthrough Act with Nicki Minaj and Foster the People. We couldn’t be happier for Justin and the Bon Iver family. The awards will air on February 21st!!

Bon Iver will also take part in a Flaming Lips collaboration compilation for special release on this year’s Record Store Day. Now we will only be left guessing as to what the collaboration will entail…..HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

New Video: Peter Gabriel and Justin Vernon Discuss Covering Each Other’s Songs

To celebrate the release of Scratch My Back and the impending Record Store Day split 7″ by Bon Iver and Peter Gabriel, Real World has released a film featuring the two artists discussing the songs. Both interviews include audio of Peter Gabriel’s “Flume” and (never before heard!) Bon Iver’s “Come Talk To Me.” It’s a really special video, and I’m tearing up a little bit. Okay, I’m tearing up a lot.

Make sure to arrive early and pick up this 7″ on 4/17 at your local Record Store Day celebration.

Bon Iver and Peter Gabriel Swap Covers for Record Store Day Exclusive 7″

It turns out that the great Peter Gabriel cover of Bon Iver’s “Flume” for his record Scratch My Back isn’t the whole story. Bon Iver was asked to contribute a cover as well, and the result is a split 7″ with a cover of Gabriel’s “Come Talk To Me” that will be available as an exclusive from Jagjaguwar at participating Record Store Day stores.
