Watch // Pink Mountaintops Shares New Video For “Ambulance City”, New Album ‘Get Back’ Out April 29th

A few weeks ago Stephen McBean, of Black Mountain, shared news that a new Pink Mountaintops album Get Back will be out April 29th and you had the chance to hear the new (beautifully filthy) track “North Hollywood Microwaves”.

Today, Pink Mountaintops have shared a new video for “Ambulance City”, the first track from the upcoming album via Noisey premiere.

The new video by Olivia Jaffe features Stephen McBean and band in glorious VHS resolution with more costume changes than you can shake a badass stick at. According to McBean, the video came together after he heard director Jaffe about her still-working 80′s VHS camera. This video marks the first time they’ve worked together since 1431 while serving drinks at Joan of Arc’s execution (no need to check the history books on that one, we can say from being there that it’s true).

Pre-order Get Back on iTunes, Amazon, SCD Bundle, and your local record store.

ALBUM ANNOUNCE // Pink Mountaintops Announces New LP ‘Get Back’ Out April 29th, Listen to “North Hollywood Microwaves” Via Stereogum Premiere

Stephen McBean, of Black Mountain, has shared news that a new Pink Mountaintops album is on the way.

New LP Get Back, out April 29th (28th in Europe), picks up where Stephen left off on Outside Love in 2009, with a collection of songs partly inspired by Stephen’s new home base of Los Angeles, but also much more. Stephen says the album is influenced by “Alleys, curbs, walls, and cigarette-stained gig flyers. An island on the Pacific coast. Fake British towns. Slayer posters. The beauty of youth. It’s about listening to ‘Driver’s Seat’ and ‘Guns of Brixton’ and hotboxing The Duster.”

The new album is produced by Joe Cardomone [The Icarus Line] and pulls from a wealth of talented Los Angeles musicians including J Mascis, Gregg Foreman [Cat Power, Delta 72], Daniel Allaire [Brian Jonestown Massacre], Stephen Kille [Dead Meadow], and Rob Barbato [Darker My Love, The Fall, Cass McCombs]. To fin ish up the record, Stephen called upon Randal Dunn [SunnO))), Earth, SunCity Girls, Boris] who mixed it at Avast! Studios [Bikini Kill, Mudhoney, Christ On A Crutch, Soundgarden] in Seattle and Howie Weinburg [Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Danzig, Ramones, Slayer] who mastered it in Laurel Canyon.

With all that in mind, excited fans can preview the new album by listening to an awesome new track “North Hollywood Microwaves”, which is maybe the filthiest song we’ve ever released. It features rapping from Annie Hardy [Giant Drag] and can be heard via Stereogum or above via our Soundcloud. Put on some headphones and get weird with Stephen and Annie.

Pre-order Get Back on iTunes, Amazon, SCD Bundle, and your local record store.

PINK MOUNTAINHOPS, The New Brew Inspired By Pink Mountaintops

What’s tastier than a beer inspired by Pink Mountaintops? NOTHING. CBC Music put together a wee little project, asking fans to pair band names with beer styles and tag them with #CDNbandbeer on Twitter. Before long, labels were made and many a Canadian brewery were called on to make this mash-up a reality. We’re stoked Pink Mountaintops is included in the fun and cannot wait to get a taste.

Created by Cannery Brewing, PINK MOUNTAINHOPS hits stores June 7. What does it taste like? For starters, it’s a maibock, meaning a German-styled lager complete with classic German malts and noble hops. We’re talking all kinds of delicious.

WATCH // Pink Mountaintops at The Wild Unknown’s Forest Party

Pink Mountaintops at Forest Party 2012 from Caleb Seppala on Vimeo.

Earlier this summer, The Wild Unknown put on their second annual Forest Party in upstate New York. It all took place at the home of Family Band’s Kim Krans and Jonny Ollsin, who built the quaint cabin that sits on the property themselves. Lots of folks headed north for the special get-together, including Stephen McBean of Pink Mountaintops. He lent a hand in constructing the set-up and then, with guitar in hand, took park in a number of performances. Watch him play ““Closer to Heaven” above.

Fader happened to catch all the Forest Party fun! For photos and story, head HERE.
