Perhaps you’ve already seen Rado and Sam France on the cover of NYC’s Deli Magazine. They were featured in Issue #32 – the CMJ edition. You can read & download the magazine HERE. They didn’t make the cover just for kicks – Foxygen took CMJ by storm and never once looked back. Proof’s in the video; watch Foxy perform “Make It Known” below. If one thing is for sure, they definitely didn’t go unnoticed. From the music to their style to their unwieldy live performances, Foxygen made lists on lists. Luckily, it’s just beginning. What it is – we’re not completely sure, but that’s okay. Sit back and enjoy the weird ride with the rest of us >> start with a new round of tour dates (find below). Read the rest of this entry »

“I Bet on Sky channels the best of Dinosaur Jr.’s lethargic fury, as Mascis continues to wrap words of alienation and ennui in wiry energy, not to mention guitars that shred and shred some more. The result still feels fresh, 27 years on. Just don’t skimp on the earplugs.”Stephen Thompson, NPR

Once you’re acquainted with the record, head out to see Dinosaur Jr. live in concert. They’ll kick off their tour in Toronto on September 24! Dates include stops at Midpoint Music and Pygmalion festivals. Full schedule and ticket links HERE.

ON THE ROAD RECAP: Sharon Van Etten & Her Endless Tour

photo by Erik Jacobs at NPR

A week or two ago, Sharon Van Etten and her lovely band took the stage at Newport Folk Festival to a gentle, but enthusiastic roar from an eager audience. Kicking off the set with “All I Can,” Sharon delivers another wonderful performance. NPR writes, “Van Etten alternately exudes quiet confidence, sweet shyness and bold aggression, depending on a given song or moment, and never lets her audience’s attention lag.”

Listen and download the performance at NPR.

Sharon’s in the midst of a yearlong tour and as expected, the feedback has been nothing shy of incredible. Below we’ve included some live footage from her show at Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom, plus more links to photos and awesome reviews! Have fun digging in and then get out to see a live show yourself! Sharon & co. travel to San Francisco for two performances today – one at Outside Lands Music Festival at 1:15 PM and one at the Rickshaw Stop for an after show later Friday tonight. Did you heed our advice yesterday? Tell me you didn’t miss Sharon Van Etten’s performance of “Leonard” last night on “mini” Conan! Luckily for all of us, the fine people at Conan have provided us with the video. WATCH IT ABOVE. Also, don’t miss Sharon perched next to Shaq at the end of show! Uhhhh, can we just say how awesome that was?!?!

Last week, Sharon played to over 3,000 SXSW-goers at the NPR showcase then went on to headline the Jagjaguwar party, only to leave Austin soon after for a Los Angeles take down.
