WATCH // Angel Olsen Shares New “Hi-Five” Video, ‘Burn Your Fire for No Witness’ Out 2/18

We’re extremely excited for Angel Olsen‘s new album out February 18th, and as another teaser for the release, she has shared a new video for “Hi-Five” directed/filmed by Angel’s constant collaborator, Zia Anger. Watch Angel steal your heart and ours once again above or on our YouTube page here.

On the style of the video, director Anger says she was inspired by 1960s and 1970s telecasts:

They were always so wild and psychedelic and humorous from afar. The more you watch them, the more wooden and awkward the performances become. There is a certain loneliness captured. The song ‘Hi-Five’ seems to contain the same sort of duality.

If you missed it, see more of Angel in her recent NPR Music Tiny Desk Session or her teaser for her full La Blogothèque session on YouTube here.

WATCH // Angel Olsen Shares New “Forgiven/Forgotten” Video, New Album Out 2/18/14

Just a few weeks ago we announced Angel Olsen‘s new album Burn Your Fire for No Witness. We also shared new song “Forgiven/Forgotten” which garnered Pitchfork‘s “Best New Track” status and had Fader saying Angel “has gone ahead and plugged in, with a full rock band sound that seems like it’s rearing to overwhelm everything in its path”.

Today we are excited to premiere the first video from the new album for the track “Forgiven/Forgotten”. Directed by longtime Angel collaborator, Zia Anger, and shot on 16mm, the visual shows Angel in enchanted suburbia with a mate who may no longer be in the picture, literally. Watch the video above or on YouTube/Vevo.

Click read more to read Zia’s thoughts on the video, pre-order links for Angel’s new album out February, 18th, 2014, and see upcoming tour dates including a date with Neko Case on December 12th!.

WATCH // Foxygen Releases Official Video For “21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic”

The title song from Foxygen‘s debut album We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, gets a psychedelic and trippy visual from director William Doyle of Neighborhood Watch Films. Watch the video above or HERE on YouTube to see singer Sam France running around Calvary Cemetery in Queens summoning the spirits just as he does on stage.

That same stage energy ended the band’s summer tour a bit early when Sam had an accident at First Avenue in Minneapolis in July. Doctors confirmed he completely fractured his tibia and fibula and underwent reconstructive surgery.

However, they said they are confident he will be able to perform in time for Austin City Limits and Foxygen‘s October dates in New York City All fall tour dates preceding ACL have been cancelled. Read more to see those dates and the band’s performance of “Make It Known” at Pitchfork Music Festival this past summer below.

WATCH // DIANA Premieres Official Music Video For “Perpetual Surrender” On Vevo, Announces Official Four Tet Remix With Deluxe Pre-Order

We have a rather trippy video premiere for DIANA‘s title track off their new album, Perpetual Surrender out August 20th.

The video, directed by artist Jesse Yules, utilized folded paintings of DIANA’s lead singer, Carmen Elle. On the paintings, Jesse said, “I used images with a strong, singular light source, that cast a shadow on one side of the figure. I tried to illustrate the idea of a personality with different sides, by mirroring and animating the lit side of the portrait, then contrasting that by mirroring the shadow side of the portrait.” Watch the beautiful and mesmerizing video ABOVE.
