The Ocropolis is Dead. Long Live the Ocropolis!
Posted: September 7th, 2011 by AbeToday the Village Voice reports that Monster Island the long standing Brooklyn artist space which houses both Secret Project Robot and Oneida’s recording studio The Ocropolis will close at the end of September. Before then there are still plenty of events scheduled including the annual Monster Island Block Party, taking place this Saturday. Since 2004, Monster Island has been a home to the reemergent Brooklyn scene housing tons of music events including early Todd P shows. Dozens of bands have recorded at the Ocropolis, and tons of artists have either shown their work in the gallery space or used the studio space to launch their creations. The good news is both the Ocropolis and Secret Project Robot will be moving to a yet to be disclosed new space in Bushwick.
