REAL TALK // J Mascis on WTF with Marc Maron

Could this be the best interview we’ve ever gotten out of Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis? Probably! J sits down with WTF podcast host and longtime Dino fan, Marc Maron, for some chit chat and then ends the whole shebang with a few songs. In addition to telling Marc about growing up in Amherst, J reveals he’s a pretty good skier and goes skiing at least once a year. He also had a pretty positive experience with Aimee Mann at Newbury Comics. Anways, listen for yourself at the link below.

COOL STUFF: Dinosaur Jr. Dolls (No Lie)

What could be better than hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind Dinosaur Jr. dolls? NOTHING, that’s what. Mediodescocido’s Uriel Valentin has constructed three art dolls to resemble J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph. We have to say, they’re pretty spot on. J Mascis even has a tiny purple skateboard. See for yourself above and then head to Mediodescodico’s website to check out all of their awesome creations. FYI, the dolls are not for sale – just for your awe and enjoyment.

Dinosaur Jr. On Tour Now, ‘I Bet On Sky’ Still Shredding

Dinosaur Jr.’s record, I Bet On Sky, came out last week! It’s the third album since the reuniting of the original three. In his 7.9 review, Pitchfork’s Brandon Stosuy recently shared some words on the album. He starts at Dinosaur Jr.’s early beginning and moves us quickly through a brief history, showing us the evolution of the new work >>> the review.

“It’s a subtle shift, but this is neither a move away from their sound nor toward the raging rock of old (even with all those warm-and-fuzzy Mascis guitar solos). In the sprawling, happy anthem “I Know It Oh So Well”, Mascis asks, “Is there light ahead?” Judging from the music here, the answer is a resounding yes.” – Pitchfork

J Mascis recently gave an interview at CBC Music. Is Mascis jazzed about the direction of Dino these days? Head to CBC to find out.

“‘Gene Simmons once said that to me,’ Mascis reveals. ‘That was pretty exciting. I was on a Kiss compilation and he said, ‘Everyone’s really jazzed that Dinosaur Jr.’s gonna be on this compilation.’ So, I think of Gene Simmons when I hear that word.’”

Last, but certainly not least –> DINOSAUR JR. IS ON TOUR! They’re currently working a three day stint at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace and then off into the great wild they go! Check out all the tour dates HERE.
