Peter Wolf Crier Announce New Album Garden of Arms

Peter Wolf Crier’s second album, Garden of Arms, will be released on September 6 on Jagjaguwar (September 5 in the UK). The follow up to 2010′s Inter-Be paints a vivid portrait of all the pain and beauty of growth. The first single from the record, “Right Away,” premiered on My Old Kentucky Blog. You can find it here.

Composed of voice, drums, bass, organs, vibraphone, guitars, and keys “at various speeds and directions,” per Pisano, the resulting songs reflect a new-found footing of confidence and experimentation. A fall tour schedule for the band will be announced soon.

Moonface Announces First Full-Length Album – “Organ Music not Vibraphone like I’d Hoped” – New Tour Dates!

Last year Jagjaguwar released a twenty-minute marimba piece by Spencer Krug under the moniker “Moonface.” It was called the Dreamland EP: marimba and shit-drums, and it was sold as a 12″ and under a pay-what-you-want system via the interactive Moonface site in which fans could contribute and read dream submissions. Jagjaguwar will release Moonface’s first full record, Organ Music not Vibraphone like I’d Hoped, on August 2nd, 2011.

Moonface’s first tour is coming in July. Check out our page for all the dates. After the jump, read a message from Spencer Krug about the new record!

WILDERNESS To Tour U.S., Release Free MP3 From Upcoming (k)no(w)here CD/LP

WILDERNESS, the unconventional rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, will embark on a tour of the U.S. in November, in support of the release of their third full-length album “(k)no(w)here” (out on Jagjaguwar in the CD, LP and digital formats in the U.S. and throughout the world on Nov. 4.; UK release date of Nov. 3).

The music of Wilderness was acclaimed from the start. Their debut self-titled album (released July 5, 2005) garnered wide and special praise. Pitchfork called Wilderness “a shift back to the cerebral end of the rock spectrum”, and designated their debut record with the prestigious Best New Music tag. Skyscraper sagely remarked on how the band’s relatively low profile since then is actually a special boon: “Wilderness is creating their own music, taking advantage of their relative isolation to create a Walden in the wilds of today’s music.” Following up with an equally impressive second album called “Vessel States” (April 11, 2006) and shortly thereafter with the “Living Through / Part Ways” 7-inch (August 22, 2006), Wilderness have been consistent and prolific creators of music that is every bit for the soul as it is for the body and the mind.

Almost two years after their previous works, their newest album “(k)no(w)here” was inspired from a collaboration with renowned visual artist Charles Long, which was exhibited at the Whitney Museum’s Biennial celebration earlier this year. The individual parts of “(k)no(w)here” weave in and out of each other, showing how the album was originally conceived as one large piece.

All dates on the upcoming tour will be supported by Boston’s San Serac.

LADYHAWK To Embark On U.S. Tour In Support Of Acclaimed “Shots”; Free MP3 Of “S.T.H.D”

LADYHAWK have just released an album called “Shots” that Carrie Brownstein of NPR (and of Sleater-Kinney fame) listens to every day (see March 6 entry here). MOJO magazine gives the same album 4 stars and says that Ladyhawk recalls “Dinosaur Jr.’s drive as adroitly as some of Neil Young’s darker notions.” And their live show is renowned. The Vancouver band is coming off a sold-out romp through Canada with Jagjaguwar label-mates and good brahs (and sah) BLACK MOUNTAIN. And the United States is next up, where they are touring with Saddle Creek recording artists NEVA DINOVA. (See tour-dates below.)

Also, Ladyhawk are looking to make some friends along the way.

If you’re still on the fence, and you’re not prejudiced against hairy men (see: the opening page of www.jagjaguwar.com), then you should check out (and share) the following MP3, of a song called “S.T.H.D”: get song here

“S.T.H.D.” encompasses all that is Ladyhawk (urban lament, fist pumping rock chorus, tasty guitar solo), wrapped up in a two minute nugget of energy, sweat, melody and rhythm.

Here is some additional critical praise for people who don’t feel like thinking for themselves:

UNCUT Magazine — “To say Ladyhawk offer a pretty straightforward rock trip makes them sound unadventurous, [and] also doesn’t really do justice to the sheer head-nodding, play-loud-and-prosper enjoyment [Shots] offers.”

EXCLAIM — “Offering a darker, more mature version of their earlier work, “Shots” is the record Ladyhawk have always intended to make.”
