Parts & Labor, Shinji Masuko Contribute to Japan Relief Comp

In the wake of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan, our friends at Thrill Jockey Records have collected a staggering number of tracks in a compilation album to help relief efforts. Benefit for the Recovery in Japan Compilation is made up of contributions from over sixty diverse artists around the world, and is available for just $15 HERE. 100 percent of the proceeds go directly toward the recover and relief effort taking place in Japan.

Better yet, it includes tracks from our very own Parts & Labor, as well as Brah Records’ newest addition, Shinji Masuko. Check out the massive tracklist after the jump.

BON IVER’s Landmark Jools Holland Performance Featured on New Compilation

BON IVER is among a slew of artists to be featured on an upcoming compilation of live BBC performances. Later Live 2 with Jools Holland includes two discs of 34 tracks, all live takes from the British TV show “Later With Jools Holland”. Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” made the album, along with songs from artists like Keane, Muse, MGMT, Radiohead, The Raconteurs, Goldfrapp, and more. See the full track listing HERE. The compilation is out October 12 on Rhino Records.

OKKERVIL RIVER Guests On Merge Records’ 20-Year Celebration Compilation

As part of Merge Records’ 20th Anniversary celebration, the legendary label is releasing a compilation, SCORE! 20 Years of Merge Records: The Covers, which features some of today’s best artists coving favorites from the Merge catalogue. Jagjaguwar’s own OKKERVIL RIVER appears, performing a cover of East River Pipe’s “All You Little Suckers.” The album is up for pre-order on the Merge Records site, and will be available at your local records stores on April 7.

ONEIDA Contributes Rare Track To Compilation

People have been harassing us about the upcoming, soon-to-be-stuff-of-legend, triple album by ONEIDA called Rated O. The truth is we can only reveal our secrets ONE BY ONE.

Good news for you: ONEIDA has contributed an exclusive track to Party Store Records latest cassette only comp: The Coldest Beer in Town. The song they contribute is called “Rated O”, an outtake from the upcoming album of the same name! One version of the tape has the instrumental version and one version has the vocal version!

Additionally, the band listed as “The Bible” features Baby Hanoi Jane and Kid Millions with Michael Awesome from Awesome Color.

Brooklyn’s finest underground noise-makers and party animals have formed like Voltron for this compilation, so take a trip to Kent Avenue for a few cold ones from the party store.
