Jagjaguwar is honored to take part in a historic fundraising effort by the kind folks at Shorebird to save the Looff Carousel at Crescent Park in East Providence, Rhode Island. Project Carousel is a multimedia initiative to raise money for the historic carousel and honor Charles I.D. Looff. The project includes limited edition exclusive white vinyl of Volcano Choir‘s debut record, Unmap, Mark Kozelek [Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon], and unreleased music from the Jason Molina from our sister label Secretly Canadian. ALBUM ANNOUNCE // Sinoia Caves Announce Soundtrack To Panos Cosmatos’ ‘Beyond The Black Rainbow’ Out 9/2 On Jagjaguwar And Death Waltz Records




Jagjaguwar is thrilled to announce the co-release of Sinoia Caves‘ soundtrack to Panos Cosmatos‘ 2012 film, Beyond The Black Rainbow, on September 2nd. This supposed “lost film” from the 1980s is inspired by obscure sci-fi movies and classic dystopian fiction. Watch the trailer for the movie here. The album will be available in the United States and digitally world-wide on Jagjaguwar and physically in Europe in partnership with Death Waltz Records.

Sinoia Caves is the ongoing project of Jeremy Schmidt, member of psych-rock pioneers and Jagjaguwar band Black Mountain .

WATCH // Watch The Video For Pink Mountaintops “Second Summer Of Love” Directed By Brook Linder

First of all, we would like to congratulate Pink Mountaintops on Get Back being featured on this year’s Polaris Music Prize long list. Secondly, we are VERY excited to present a kick-ass video for “Second Summer Of Love”, off their most recent album Get Back. The new video directed by Brook Linder debuted at Entertainment Weekly today and features a beautiful montage of youthful recklessness including skateboards on fire, bashing mailboxes, and more. On the video, director Linder said,
“We started with this insane image: looking at a flaming kick flip from an impossible angle, and worked backwards from there. Much of the focus was just creating a collage of textures grabbed from rolling around with this skate crew in the Midwest. The song is totally Stephen’s anthem for a very particular time and place – we took those images and twisted them out into a montage of youthful energy, the good and the bad.”

S. Carey + Califone Announce Co-Headlining Tour, S. Carey Covers The Pines



This September the musical wizards S. Carey and Califone [on our sister label Dead Oceans] are teaming up for a co-headlining tour. Coming off the release of his new album, Range of Light, S. Carey starts his tour with The Pines tonight while Califone has been busy playing sold out living room shows and festivals since the start of the year supporting last fall’s Stitches, which was named one of the top albums of the 2013 by Aquarium Drunkard

Today S. Carey shared a cover of The Pines “Shiny Shoes” to celebrate the start of the tour tonight in Fargo, North Dakota. Listen to the track above.
