WATCH // S. Carey Shares ‘Supermoon’ EPK Via Outside Magazine, New EP Out Feb. 17, April Dates Added To Living Room Tour

S. Carey debuted the EPK for his upcoming Supermoon EP today via Outside Magazine premiere. The video – gorgeously shot primarily in the Wisconsin wilderness – provides a further window into the musical inspiration that Carey finds in nature and family. The Supermoon EP offers reimagined versions of the Eau Claire-native singer/songwriter and Bon Iver-multi-instrumentalist’s two full-lengths, 2010′s All We Grow and 2014′s Range of Light, alongside the title track new song and a Radiohead cover. Go behind the scenes with a special EPK directed by Dan Huiting you can watch above or on YouTube.

Pre-order the EP via SC Distribution, iTunes, and Amazon.

The Supermoon EP, recorded during August 2014′s perigee-syzygy (a/k/a super moon), is a study in scale, space, and proximity. With the songs pared down to essential, acoustic parts, their beauty, intimacy, and potently personal nature are allowed to shine through in new and distinctive ways. Carey’s gentle, evocative vocals glide atop lilting yet percussive piano and subtle harmonic strings; his breath between words and the pat of his fingers on his family’s baby grand keys have been left audible. Inspired by nature, as with much of his work, and the excitement of on the spot song arrangements for various sessions while on tour, the Supermoon EP was laid to tape with the help of longtime friends and collaborators Zach Hanson (who engineered, mixed, and mastered) and Mike Noyce (who played viola). The EP is captivating and understated, adding a new chapter to the still-unfolding story of Sean Carey as an artist.

Carey has added April dates to his upcoming living room tour, presented by Undertow Music Collective. This series of shows will showcase the stripped-down artistry of the Supermoon EP and begin on February 5th in Des Moines, IA.

LISTEN // Lia Ices Shares ‘Higher (Sam Proffitt Remix)’ Via Magnetic Magazine

You know that point of the evening where night begins to turn to day? You’re tired and thinking of leaving the party, but then you catch the sun breaking through and can’t imagine being anywhere else? That’s where Samuel Proffitt’s remix of Lia Ices’ “Higher” comes in. This indelibly catchy remix gives the summer single an icy, airy lift with crispier snaps and flecks of soul-infused synths. What’s more, it’s available for free download! Hop on over to Magnetic Magazine to check it out and catch Lia on tour in North America starting this week.
