UK group Wolf People will embark on their first ever North American tour dates with label mates Unknown Mortal Orchestra in October! Their two week string of dates will take them around the East Coast, Canada and the Midwest.
We are proud to announce today that they have added new headlining dates in New York, Bloomington, IN, and Chicago. Check out the full list below with some backstory on the band and thoughts on the group from The Guardian.
On the band, The Guardian writes, “In today’s world, the musical past is all around us, constantly, and Wolf People sound like they’re rolling around ecstatically in lots of its most interesting bits”. Read The Guardian’s full feature on the band, HERE.
Wolf People are a truly authentic British rock band with their members hailing from Bedford, and North Yorkshire and their latest album Fain was recorded in an isolated house in the Yorkshire Dales. This plays well into their classic rock and psychedelic sound, adding more authenticity to their style even though they may have not actually lived through the era themselves.
On the band’s influences, lead singer Jack Sharp says,
I’d had a copy of Pentangle’s first album for years, which I’d picked up for sampling, and one day it just clicked. I realised my mum used to sing Let No Man Steal Your Thyme to me when I was a kid, so there was already a deep emotional connection. That was a gateway drug to folk for me. I started listening to Anne Briggs, Shirley Collins, the Young Tradition. What draws me to traditional music is that the songs are there to do a job, to tell a story, to make work easier. There’s no pomposity or celebrity or ego
