The Comedy Accepted And In Competition At Sundance Film Festival

We are extremely proud to announce that the Jagjaguwar-produced feature film The Comedy has been accepted into the competition line-up at Sundance Film Festival. It was directed and co-written by Rick Alverson (The BuilderNew Jerusalem) and stars comedian Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!). The film also features Eric Wareheim (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), Gregg Turkington (a.k.a. Neil Hamburger), James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem)) and Kate Lyn Sheil. It is produced by Jagjaguwar, Greyshack Films (JunebugMeek’s CutoffPalendromesOld Joy) and Glass Eye Pix (Wendy and Lucy).
Synopsis: Indifferent even to the prospects of inheriting his father’s estate, Swanson (Heidecker) whiles away his days with a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters, engaging in acts of recreational cruelty and pacified boredom. Desensitized and disenchanted, he strays into a series of reckless situations that may offer the promise of redemption or the threat of retribution. A scathing look at the white male on the verge of collapse, Rick Alverson’s carefully observed portrait provokes and disorients; a cautionary fable for the autumn of the American Era.
