There is a particular “feel” to the music of Cave Singers. Certain acts have it and when you find one it’s best to hold on tight, because it is a rare talent. There is something in the way Derek’s guitar-picking blends with Pete’s vocals that creates a magic in the air that’s downright palpable. And Marty is so solid on drums and percussion. It’s not easy to find the appropriate fills for music with such a fragile beauty, a heavier hand and it could all go to pot. The above video is brought to us by the fine folks at KEXP and No Depression and was recorded during the No Depression Festival in Seattle just a few weeks ago. It’s a new song still in the works that for the time being is simply known as “new song,” but it sounds mighty heavenly to me. Watch and enjoy friends, there’s more on the way.
In other Cave Singers news, the band is about to embark on a week long tour of China! I for one can’t wait to hear what the Far East thinks of the Northwest’s best and brightest.
