Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while and we hope you are doing well. We have been taking a little bit of a breather over the past few months — reconnecting with family and friends, renovating houses and building chicken coops, and – most importantly – writing and recording a new Okkervil River album that should be ready early next year.

In the meantime though, we are getting ready for the release of our collaborative album with Roky Erickson, True Love Cast Out All Evil, which comes out April 20th on Anti Records; The album consists of original material from Roky Erickson with Okkervil River as the backing band and Will Sheff as producer. Visit the site at www.truelovecastoutallevil.com for more information.

More after the jump.

The pre-order for True Love Cast Out All Evil includes a limited edition t-shirt featuring a hand-drawn portrait of Roky Erickson circa 1974 by Will Sheff. This pre-order is the only chance to get these shirts and quantities are limited. You can purchase your pre-order here.

We just played our first shows with Roky showcasing the songs from the new album at SXSW. You can read some reviews of those shows here, here, and here.

We’ll be playing with Roky again, a few shows around the release. These True Love Cast Out All Evil release shows in Austin, LA, San Francisco, and New York are very special to us, and even more so as they will be the first and most likely last appearances that Okkervil River will make backing Roky Erickson. We recommend that you buy your concert and plane and train tickets now, as this’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime run of shows for all involved.

Those tour dates are below:

04-24 Austin TX, Paramount Theater TIX
05-18 Los Angeles CA, Mayan Theater TIX
05-20 San Francisco CA, The Fillmore TIX
05-25 New York NY, Webster Hall TIX

And in closing, we are now offering a new track off the upcoming album “Be and Bring Me Home” can be downloaded here.

Love,
Okkervil River
