PARTS & LABOR releases “Mapmaker” on May 22, continues tour with ADULT.

As Parts & Labor continues to drop metric tons of aural shrapnel on fans across the U.S. on the current ADULT. tour (see dates below), their new full-length is on course for a May 22 release:

“Mapmaker” is the second Jagjaguwar/Brah album from these Brooklyn noisepunks. Expanding on the soaring melodies and cracked electronics of 2006′s “Stay Afraid”, P&L explores a wider array of berserk, malfunctioning instruments and intricate, pummeling rhythms. These 12 political/personal anthems about ambition and distraction boast bigger choruses, denser drones and shinier hooks. Parts & Labor cites the following bands as influences and is totally cool with you name-checking them: Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, Boredoms, Minutemen, Neutral Milk Hotel and Amps For Christ.

Birthing a new album and incessant touring aren’t enough to keep this band occupied; P&L has the following choice offerings slated for 2007:

- an iTunes bonus track on the 5RC/KRS Xiu Xiu tribute comp (covering the song “Apistat Commander”)
- an exclusive track on an upcoming compilation for “No Pain In Pop”, a new UK-based label
- an exclusive track for an Oh No Records vinyl compilation in support of Trees Not Trash, a Brooklyn non-profit organization
- an exclusive track for a split 7″ with the UK’s Fuck Buttons
- another U.S. tour is taking shape for June/July
- a European tour is tentatively scheduled for the fall
- all three members of P&L have solo material in the pipeline as well: Dan Friel is working a new album; BJ Warshaw is finishing up the debut CD of his project Shooting Spires (scheduled for release on Cardboard Records this summer); and Chris Weingarten is wrapping up his Poisson d’Avril full length
