LADYHAWK Spread Their Wings Wide & Tour, Prep EP

As the weather gets warmer and the 2007 touring season kicks into full gear Ladyhawk will be embarking on their biggest tour to date. They begin March 3 on a tour containing sixteen American dates and eleven Canadian dates taking them far and wide across North America. Joining them on this expedition at different points will be the esteemed company of The Constantines, Mary Timony, and Saturday Looks Good To Me. And of course, as with seemingly all March tours, Ladyhawk’s, too, will gravitate towards the Live Music Capital Of The World, and the South By Southwest Music Festival. You can catch Ladyhawk at SXSW at the Jagjaguwar Showcase March 15 at Mohawk (formerly Velvet Spade), and the Chunklet Magazine Party the following day on March 16 at Red Seven. And look for May Dates with Ladyhawk on Tour with Tapes N’ Tapes as well!

New Release from Ladyhawk!
Ladyhawk’s second release, the “Fight For Anarchy” 12-inch, will be released May 22. Ladyhawk know that life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes you get up just to get down again. Sometimes you run just to feel the wind against your face, and sometimes you stand still to watch things crumble around you. Knowing this, Ladyhawk got up – way up – and entered a recording studio for a day-long session between tours in the first half of 2006. Perhaps they then soared too close to the sun, like moths drawn into the flame, only to fly again into the shadows, their wings singed. And then maybe, gathering their burned and broken instruments about them, they limped their way home, rearranging the pieces and sounds haphazardly, letting them all lay as they fell.

The end result is the sound of four brothers breaking something down to create something new, reaching into the fire again. It is a shattering 6-song march called Fight For Anarchy, all unmuzzled and jawing out, nothing edited or expunged. And on it Ladyhawk show that, like Spoon, Dinosaur Jr. or Tom Waits, they have the ability to conjure growls, snarls, and storms of sound into musical lightning, never striking the same place twice.
