RICHARD YOUNGS : Advent & Sapphie LP Reissues, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Other Albums
Never ceasing in our efforts to keep turntables significant, Jagjaguwar have stoked the reissue fire by making 2 of Richard’s most classic and character-defining works, ADVENT and SAPPHIE, available in the LP format. While this will be Advent’s second vinyl appearance (the first being Richard’s No Fans release), it will be the first for Sapphie. We hope to have these available for October.
As well, Richard has continued to record and issue new treasures with unyielding consistency. Currently available for purchase are the new R!!! and S!!! CD “5 Years” released by VHF, “Collodion Positives : Vol. 1,” appearing on Sonic Oyster Records, and “Newcastle Sunday,” released by Corwood Industries and documenting the 2nd live JANDEK appearance. In the upcoming weeks, look forward to Time-Lag Records’ “Belsayer Time” LP, which will be a promising collaboration between Richard, ALEX NEILSON, and New Zealand legend ALASTAIR GALBRAITH.
Finally, as if Richard’s profile couldn’t rise any higher, and if you needed any further proof that Master Youngs has reached the echelon of superstars like Sting, Peter Gabriel, and Phil Collins, Richard will be performing at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival “The Nightmare Before Christmas 2006,” curated by THURSTON MOORE, with reclusives THE DEAD C and NEGATIVE APPROACH also scheduled to perform. You can also catch a rare Richard Youngs solo set in Glasgow next month as he provides support to the ANIMAL COLLECTIVE at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
