SUNSET RUBDOWN

Sunset Rubdown was once the moniker under which Spencer Krug released low fidelity solo recordings. The project has long since evolved into a full band, and Dragonslayer is the third full-length recorded by the whole group. Besides Krug, it features the three musicians who originally signed on: Jordan Robson-Cramer on drums, guitar and keys, Michael Doerksen on guitar and bass, and Camilla Wynne Ingr on keys, percussion and vocals. And now, for the first time, newest member Mark Nicol can be heard on bass, drums, and percussion.

ALBUM RELEASE // Moonface ‘Julia with Blue Jeans On’ Out Today, Releases Video for “Barbarian”

Spencer Krug‘s latest album as Moonface, Julia with Blue Jeans On is out today. For Moonface‘s newest, Krug has stripped down his sound to just a piano and his voice, leaving the effects, overdubs, and electronic elements out. The new album, Julia with Blue Jeans On, is Krug’s self-described love record and displays an angle of Spencer’s music not heard before.

Also premiering today, see a new video by Spencer for the song “Barbarian”, which incorporates camcorder footage from the 1980′s of three children with some pretty sweet moves (see Spencer far right). Watch the video above or here on YouTube.

Julia with Blue Jeans On is available now from Amazon, iTunes, Secretly Canadian Distribution, your local record store, and on Paper Bag Records in Canada.

Moonface’s Organ Music Pre-Order Download New Song, See Them on Tour

Moonface, the primary recording project of Spencer Krug (formerly of Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes and Wolf Parade), will release its first full-length album on August 2nd, Organ Music not Vibraphone like I’d Hoped.

Today Jagjaguwar is offering Organ Music for pre-order at SC Distribution. All pre-orders come with an instant digital download of the whole album. Click here to access Moonface at SC Distribution.

Last month we offered a download of the song “Fast Peter” from Organ Music, and today we’d also like to share a download for a Moonface song that did not seem to fit within the group. Over at the interactive Moonface fan site, http://moonface.ca/, the song “The Way You Wish You Could Live in the Storm” is available for download. Spencer describes it thus:

It’s a song that was cut from the record – an angry duck that didn’t get along with the other songs on the Organ Music LP. That is not to say it’s a bad song (though not to say it’s a good song, either), it’s just something I made that I don’t know what to do with. It’s more techno, or something, than the rest of the Organ Music LP. Less silky. But still, I thought it was worth sharing, for anyone who cares. It’s more than a pile of wet leaves. Maybe it’s something you can listen to while you do the dishes, or draw, or teach your baby to dance. So if you’re inclined, click on the link provided here and do with it what you will.

Go see Moonface on tour this summer! Dates are here.
